What is the CQE exam?

The Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) is awarded by ASQ. The computer-based exam has 175 multiple-choice questions (160 scored) in 5 hours 18 minutes of testing time, within a 5.5-hour appointment. It is open book and in English.

You need a bachelor's degree in engineering with 4 years of professional experience, or a master's or PhD in engineering with 3 years.

Who can take the CQE?

You need a bachelor's degree in engineering with 4 years of professional experience, or a master's or PhD in engineering with 3 years.

Is the exam open book?

Yes. You can use approved reference materials during the exam.

Where can I take the exam?

At Prometric centers worldwide (required in KSA, UAE and Qatar) or online with remote proctoring in some regions.

How much is the exam fee?

The standard fee is $550 and a retake is $350. ASQ members get $100 off the first application.

What happens if I don't pass?

You repeat the course for free under the pass guarantee.
